Having had a 1105 rebore and assumingly set up correctly with Big CC is it possible that my single feed standard fuel tap can not cope with continuous 70 - 80 mph or have I another problem

Steve in an ideal world you would be better off with a larger tap (Pingel) etc. However at a constant 70/80 you would not have a fuel problem with the standard tap. Fuel starvation would show itself at 3/4 to full throttle where as at 70/80 you would be at 1/2. Do you have an in line filter fitted. Can you give more details on the problem.

Cheers Ian.

Hi, I don't think the cause of your problems is only down to the over size engine. As Padders said, cruising at 70/80 will only be on part throttle and not using excessive full to feed the engine. Must be some other problem, blocked tank breather, filter, ignition, .. etc!

No in line filter Dyna s and dyna coils was all set up by Big cc so jets and needle settings I assume should be correct.

Is the in-tank little plastic filter thingy gummed up with rust or crud? Take it your running standard sprocket sizes too? Running really low gearing on my Harris which puts cruising revs up, but also the acceleration which is nice! :)

What problems do you have? what bike is it? What carbs are you running?

With thanks to Steve Debben:
to check the fuel flow stick a 2 litre jug or container under the tap and turn it on, if there is a prime position, then you have a diagphram type tap and you will need to turn it to prime, you should time how long it takes to pass 2 litres, a Pingel tap takes 55 seconds, if the tap takes more than 1 and half minutes you have a problem, repeat the test with the tank cap open, if the flow is quiker with the cap open then its air getting into the tank thats restricting fuel delivery. Regards, Steve

I knew I had seen it somewhere!

No - it's the quote that came out of the same sort of question asked in Bike Help by someone in March I just had to run a search to find the answer, nice flashing search screen though - didn't even have a health warning about flashing images!!

Hows the Harris going anyway Rich, you want to try a standard framed bike some time. You either slow down a bit or scare yourself shi***** the first set of bends you come across. I took the slow down a bit option after the first set of bends nearly claimed me.

Std frames are no good in Derbyshire, if it isn't a hill it's a bend! The Harris goes round bends 10mph faster than the Rickman and the six pots sure make it more forgiving when I **** up!! I haven't got round to fitting the Stack yet that'll probably be after the BMF now.
