vesrah gaskets

hi all does anyone know if vesrah gasket sets are still available?
have tried a couple of places localy but nothing so far, if not available anymore, what aftermarket brand is considered good quality, thanks in advance for any info, tricky.

Dont fit the valve stem seals that are in the Vesrah kit, they're about as much use as "tits on a fish"
The gaskets are generally good, but I would suggest fitting decent stem seals from Ray Debbens if you don't want your bike to look like it's on 20 Woodbines a day.

I've never had a problem with Vesrah stem seals and I have used at least 3 sets on 3 different bikes ....(two Z650's and a GS750)
Vesrah source all their parts from the OE manufacturers in Japan, that's why they are always so good.

Im with Charlie never had a problem with Vesra stem seals and I too have fitted several sets over the years on different engines

The stem seals in the Vesrah kit I got a few months back were so flimsy you couldn't even fit them!
The wire clip (not a coil wound item) simply fell off.
Sorry but I would consider at least the ones that came in my kit, absolutely dreadful.
Maybe I got a bad set, but all I would say is check first!

They used to be green stem seals with a twice wound coil near the base (as well as the spring round the top) which worked well.
Maybe they changed suppliers.
Last few gasket sets have been ATHENA which are very good.
The Athena group of companies now supply a lot of leading race teams and aftermarket big bore kits for motocross tuners Renaldi which are as renowned in the motocross world as moriwaki and yoshimura are on the race track.
Athena sets go for around £60 / £70 - ish.
I know a trade rep who might go for a bulk order but won't know if he'd be up for it till i ask.

Nothing compares to original valve seals and gaskets. I am building 900/1000 engines all the time and would never compromise a build for a few quid on gaskets. Same goes for piston rings. The cheap ones from america are no where near the quality of the originals. Original is more expensive but I would rather build it once. If you are someone who does 100 miles a year then it probably wont matter using cheap shit but if really want to ride then use quality.

I have had trouble, mainly to do with the thickness of the head gasket. I have found them to vary in the order of 0.5mm. Now this isn't much, however when you combine it with a tunnel rubber that is undersize, or is in a slim batch of aftermarket rubbers, you can get into trouble with oil leaks around the head tunnel.
Hence, I always look and reject any head gasket that measure too thick, albeit, they look to be the answer!
