Gpz 1100 b1 wheel/suspension changes

#1 PostAuthor: captaincaveman » Mon Jul 30, 2012 11:02 am

Id like to get my gpz11 onto something more modern, is there a common wheel, front end that people fit to this? can i get away with keeping my jmc swing arm?

Cheers
Jay

ZX9r is probably best option...the b model as they have forks nearer the original length.

Most upside down forks are too short.

Have a good look through the projects to see what alternative stuff has been used.
The possibilities are endless.
zx9r-b and yzf750 usds are some of the longest.
I used zx9's in my Drouin project and ZXR750H rw-ups with 55mm extensions on my Wakisaki z1r.
My latest Z cafe racer project uses zx10r forks which i extended internally.
The widest you can go on the rear is a 5.5" rim with 180 tyre which will require a 5/8th off set front sprocket.
Again with swingarms, anything can be made to fit .
zrx swingers are popular as well as some suzuki arms and xjr13 for keeping the twin shocks.
srad, gixer1000,and bandit arms will go in with some spacers if you want rising rate mono.
Depends how much you want to modify.

Thanks for the replys, yeah that zephyr looks about what i want, i dont want to go too extreme but just be nice to lose that 100 front tyre, maybe take the rear to a 150/160 and get more modern brakes

The swing arm is a jmc 7020, looks like it would take a larger tyre but the arm/strut to the rear brakes looks too close and would need modifying

As you can tell, im a proper newbie
