Another A4 Carb / Choke Query

Guys, when warmed up, my A4 runs fine at tickover and pulls cleanly and strongly all the way through the rev range; but warming her up is getting a bit of a lottery ?
Sometimes she will not fire up on No1, sometimes its No 2 ?? (bit like "nige's" post yesterday) but it feels almost like the choke is not operating. She's recently had new Plugs, new Coils etc, and I always try and put non ethanol high octane fuel in her !
I was going to whip out the pilot jets tomorrow, cant think what else to have a go at next. Is there a recognised "Choke gremlin" ?? (she has 28mm Z1R carbs fitted)
Cheers Tim

Probably not picking up fuel via the choke system.
Remove the float bowls & you will see a brass pick-up tube directly below each choke plunger assembly.
The pick-up tubes sit inside a passage in the float bowls - make sure that the passage is clear, it's a very small hole that allows fuel through from the float chamber.
Check that the brass pick-up tubes are clear - I remove that choke plunger assemblies & squirt carb cleaner through from the top.
Check that the choke plungers are operating properly when you open & close the choke.
Hope this helps
Good Luck.
