Hi everyone,Ihave discovered a slight leak on my a4 (a couple of drops overnight). Its on the left hand crank case as you sit on the bike and seems to be coming from the area where the black cable comes out/goes in (please excuse my lack of knowledge). I was going to try nipping up the cover first of all but would appreciate any thoughts from the experienced folk on here, thanks in advance g

A common problem. These are the alternator wires.Im sure you will get several suggestions as way to stop this. But after trying one or two this is what worked for me.Remove alternator cover and then wires with rubber grommet.Clean oil the oil from the grommet, wire and grommet housing.Araldite grommet and wires back in and around wire where they come through grommet.let set, put on new gasket and job done.
i would see what other solutions you get. Then take your choice

As above but use a good oil proof silicon sealer around the grommet and grommet housing, making sure you degrease it fully before sealing. This usually solves the problem.
If the grommet is in bad shape then it may need replacing which is a bit tricky to do and usually involves cutting the wires and re crimping with in line crimps.New ones are available from Z power but most carry out the temp repair as described.
Good luck
