just wondering what fits what

On my J project i have currently a modded Z650 tank. Clearanced underneath to fit the frame
However it looks a little short......
The police J tanks look...... well not very nice so does anyone know if the older 900 1000 tanks fit the J frame. Frame Mounts are not an issue as they can be moved
any help appreciated

gary yes the J frame is wider than the Z1 but i have no idea about the later 1000`s. I was hoping someone would know if maybe a later A4 A1 tank might go

I know Z1 to z1000 A2 are the same fitment underneath.
So would need mounting moved to fit...maybe
Might be lucky the Z1000g tank might, although I think that is short....and the LTD tanks are also short.
Have you tried the US 'round' version of the J tank
But without trying, I'm only guessing.

Ive tried various tanks on my J project bike. the framerails are wider and the mounting at the rear of the tank is different to the early ones .Ive been after a round tank for my J for ages, tried everywhere but no luck, Cash waiting if anyone has one.

Thanks gary, i have no issue with moving mounts i would rather do that than cut up the tank....less work involved
yes i tried the round J tank but it is a hideous item
i picked up a 900 tank but it hits all the same the places as the 650 tank did. but as it only has one dent and zero rust im inclined not to start cutting.

Dunno why I've just thought of this but wasn't there a z1100 custon or Ltd...that may have a round tank that might fit.

Cheers Gary yes i now have one coming but the guy who i have bought it off, after me telling him what i wanted it for. Then Described it as being butt ugly, so may well be the same as the rounded j tank

At this rate the 650 tank might be staying...............
