any idea how to run a z1 speedo without a speedo drive wheel

#1 PostAuthor: floydsz1 » Sun Jun 03, 2012 7:18 pm

As im putting my z1000j/gpz 1100 race project on the road i am fitting z1 clocks. I will use the electronic type of rev counter but the front wheel is one of my spare gsxr1000 ones which does'nt have a speedo drive.

any ideas how i can still use the z1 speedo.
Z1b, z900 A4, zxr750 m2, zrx1200
Z1000 (2003) lawson thingy,
Z1000 (2004) z1b lookalike ,

You will still need a mechanical drive of the right ratio unless you fit an electronic speedo into the casing.
I would find a way to modify the wheel to take the mecanical speedo drive or just fit another wheel.

You can install a convertion kit to the outgoing axle in centre of the sprox.
Have a look at webike homepage. Very nice made kit

Otherwise, just fit a IIRC Bandit speedo-drive to the GSXR-wheel (as the gear should still be there).

Cheers,
