Hi
Can anyone tell me what chain length and sprockets they are running on a B2
with original wheels and swing arm. I thought I had everything original (front sprocket 15T rear sprocket 40T ) but the new 630 chain, 98 rivet ( 49 side plates )is nearly at the end of its adjustment so something is not right !





Any help would be appreciated.

Richard i dont know the answer but this may be of more use.
If that chain was one link shorter you wouldn't get it on.
There will be a short period of bedding in which will require a few mm's of adjustment which will take it to the limit of travel.
Four years of thrashing, wheeling, sprinting and other un-mentionalbles by myself and others has not managed to put the chain where it needs any more adjustment.
My last (630) chain i had to run baggy for a year before i could take a link out of it. Previous experience told me that replacing the link on a chain as old as that was not going to be practical so i replaced the chain. By then it was about eigth years old.

P.S. I have a two tooth larger sprocket on the back because in my opinion standard gearing is too much work in traffic and besides that who wants to go 135 M.P.H.

You may also find that there is a buzzy bit at the critical 70 M.P.H. and the previous owner changed the gearing on mine for that reason.

You are right about a shorter chain I have a 96 rivet one which will absolutely not stretch onto the sprockets. Your comments about the longetivity of a 630 chain are useful , I just wondered what was there in the first place when the adjusters are right back at the beginning of their travel.
It is not a big problem and doesn't stop me riding so never mind.

I have a 39 and a 41 tooth rear sprocket (spares) if youre chain gets too baggy.
Both are original looking pattern and both in good order.

Thanks for the offer. I think I will do a few more km's and see what happens.
The gearing itself feels o.k. but maybe 1 tooth less on the back would be more relaxing at speed but then I would have to split the new chain.
I'll let you know what I decide. Thanks for taking the time to look.
