Hi All,

Does anyone know a competent company or individual who can sort out my 26mm Mikuni carbs for the Z900.

They work except they dump fuel into pots 1 and 4 and the bike is difficult to control at under 3000rpm its very juddery.

All the jets have been replaced and they have been cleaned ultrasonically.
The bike was restored last year and the carbs floats, and settings set up correctly I am told

The problem persists. I am using a set of Z1000 carbs at the moment so its ridable but would like the correct carbs on the bike before sale.

thanks all
Phil

I had a problem on No3 on a z1. Took a while to sort out, gez eventually found the problem which I had suspected - a possible hairline crack in the body. The carbs had been cleaned ultrasonically but suspected in too strong a soloutiuon which caused a hairline crack, flooding when hot. ultrasonic cleaning can also dislodge the brass plugs in the carb, so it can cause problems. No 3 had to be replaced.

Check to see the choke system is shutting off ok, the fuel level is set correctly and the floats/valves arent damaged, the jets are firmly seated and not loose, obviusly if the carbs are flooding petrol at standstill then its the floats/valve issue.
