Brake hose fitting

#1 PostAuthor: Z1B Alan » Sat Apr 21, 2012 1:18 pm

Following the seal going in my master cylinder I have decided to alter the brake hoses on my Z1B. The bike is fitted with twin discs and braded hoses that run from the splitter directly to the calipers. I have bought two new solid pipes from z power and now need the fittings for the hose / solid pipe joint. I think they are 10mm dose anyone know where I can buy two. I want to cut the hoses to length and fit the ends or send them away as I don't have the means to swage the fittings on. Stainless is the prefered material this is all thats stopping me from getting back on the road so hope you can help
Regards
Alan

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-AN3-JIC-3-3 ... 256e48ff1c Ginger bear to be honest I am not sure what is correct, The item above is similar to whats fitted at present but is this the correct thread and is it a compression fitting onto the hose.

Do you have a Pirtek Branch near you as they can supply the right type of fitting in stainless.

Ok I went to my local Pirtek branch would have been better going to Halfords because they were not interested. Ginger Bear posted a link to an ebay site but I am unsure which is the correct size fitting. I want to connect the solid brake pipe to braided hose if some one could give me a link to the correct sized part I would be most welcome. A stainless part is perfered similar to this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-AN3-JIC-3-3 ... 256e48ff1c
Bike currently of the road due to this issue. Also which brake fluid should I use DOT4 OR 5.

Sorry not much help. I think you need to check the pitch of the fittings.

I bought a set of brake lines from france for a twin disc set up. They sent a set of goodridge hoses which had a finer pitch to the brass tube which fits the caliper.
I ended up sending them back and getting a set else where.

As you bought the lines from Z POWER I would give them a bell and ask.

The thread in the calipers themselves is M10x1.25 if that's any help.

Thats a shame, I must have a really good branch as they made all three front ones up for me in Goodridge black coated line with Stainless fittings and only charged me £45 for the lot.

Yo our kid,
The thread is 10mmx 1.25 pitch, if yer remember we spoke to the guy from Venhill @ Stafford and he reckoned he could supply the correct compression fittings.
Send em an email asking about it with photo's of the solid pipe and the fitting you need (I will send a pic of the OEM fitting from my bike).

Giz a bell
