Anyone got any tips for improving the throttle action on a Z1000 MKII (Mikuni VM28SS carbs)?.
I know that this is how they are / were but the current throttle pull is quite heavy.
Also the throttle action is quite slow - feels like you are winding it round the world!
Anyone managed to improve theirs?

First of all you must ensure the correct path for your cable run.
For lubrication I use one of these little gems.

I clean them first with brake cleaner until they run clear. Allow it to dry and then use a lubricant of some sort. I always used to use WD40 on my off roaders but that must be done every ride. Nowadays I use a product called Lubrice from Autosmart. Basically it is a light grease that goes in liquid form and dries off a little.

I am now famous for my smooth action

A 3mm spacer below the cables will quicken it up nicely, I now have 90' of movement between off and full throttle. If you have access to a lathe they are easy to make out of some nylon. Make it so it fits in as per:

You will probably have to alter the cables outer to inner length to allow for this.
