I own a Z1000R2 1984. I want to change the front calipers and still use the exisitng discs. Does anybody know which type of four pot calipers to use?

Easiest up-grade if you're keeping the original discs is to re-build your existing calipers, fit braided hoses, good pads and a modern master cylinder such as ZZR,etc.
If you fitted a GPz750/1100 UNI-TRAK 18" front wheel, this has the same PCD as the Yamaha R1,R6,Thunderace,etc which have 300mm discs and are much lighter than your original Kawasaki discs.

Hello Gaz, your stock brake set up is a fixed disc with a floating caliper, most four pots are fixed and use a floating disc. Its not a good idea to use a fixed disc and a fixed caliper, although it has been done many times, but you would not catch a reputable manufacturer compromising the brake system in this manner. You shouldnt use a floating caliper and a floating disc together either. So if you want to use the more modern 4 piston fixed calipers you should really swap the discs over to the floating type. I am planning to fit a set of Harrison 6 pot callipers on my z900. After what Steve has said above, can anyone recommend suitable floating discs that would be a direct replacement fit on original wheels.

Steve R Thanks for your reply. The kits offered by Z Power expect you to use your original disc ?
I am still none the wiser about the disc part or which would be best to use.

An important consideration is the disc/s is/are very close to the spokes on these older bikes. I tried to fit some modern Tociko's to my CSR1000 and there was NO way they'd fit
