In my quest for a Z900 frame I have been offered a frame imported from the USA with docs. If I buy it what is required to get an age related plate.

Check with your nearest Vehicle Registration Office,a visit in person with all the paperwork and they'll be able to tell you for sure.
If you've got the 386 import paperwork then it should be no problem.
With my American Z1000R2 frame I've been told to build it into a complete bike,get it MOT'd from the frame number,then get it looked over by the VRO and then it will get an age related plate.
I didn't import the frame into the U.K. myself but bought it privately and didn't have the 386.I did have the UK supplers VAT receipt and a dating certificate which my VRO were happy with

Nah Z1R complete and too standard to mess with. New owners happy. This Z900 is in no way standard so it was cheap and I don't feel bad chucking none standard parts at it. Its going to be the way my old Zed was in the 80's. Nothing special just a good bike to put miles on. The Rickman will be getting all the one off bits but that will be at least 2 years away from hitting the road. Thought I could turn it round quickly at first but decided to give it the full works and take my time with her.

Jack is right, you need to build the bike, then get it Mot'd and insured on the frame number, then you will need to take all the paperwork (including a dating letter from the club) to your local dvlc office, where they will relieve you of some funds, but should then issue you with a number.

Forget that then might as well try changing the Q plate as the bike is built. Still looking for a UK frame with V5, ho hum gives me something to do at night.!!
