The A2 forks are slightly different to the A1 forks, I'd hazard a guess the mark2 forks are almost completely different. They're probably about the same length, I don't know about the diameter, but apart from that I'd say it's all different - you could check out the part numbers on Kawasaki but I'd be surprised if there's much commonality.

This hypothesis is however not based on any facts...

MK2 forks are the same diameter they have different cam caps but the lowers are pretty much the same.

78 and later have a different damper tube than the 77 ones and the 74-76 ones are different again.
So 77's seem to be a one year one shot deal only.

They would all work though and fit as they are 36mm but if youre not bothered about originality go for the 78's onwards.

You would hope they would be better.

yep if you want to fit them complete, i have ran mk2 forks before.

its just if youre tring to swap internals you would have to be careful

That's pretty much what I thought although I wouldn't have taken a bet on the diameter. It's funny how many differences there can be between what are basically similar forks year to year so that the internal parts are all different. I guess it's improvements to damping etc wthout an actual redesign. Are the calipers the same?
