Do you get different sizes of sprocket carrier spacers, my rear wheel gets hard to turn when the rear is tightend up,its running standard Zed alloys been doing this since I got it just trying to solve the problem.

The sprocket spacer could be missing & causing the wheel to go tight when you tighten the spindle.

have you looked.

i had a j bike once, someone had re placed rear bearings, only everytime i took bike out rear wheel was loose, found out he had left spacer out ,and everytime i tightened it up,it just pushed bearings in further.

The problem my be a mismatch of parts,as I don't think the A2 ever had alloy's as standard.Suzuki here I come!!!

Davy,
The alloy wheel sprocket hub is totally different from the spoked A2 type.(Which about 15mm narrower)
I am sure the spacers are different also.
I have both rear wheels Mag on my 1075 & spoked on my black zed thou
I had to get a complete A2 sprocket carrier & spacer.
If you get stuck give me a shout & I can measure them both.
Might not be this weekend as going down to Edinburgh.

When i changed my A2 from mags to spokes i had a spacing issue
and im sure i was told the spacer in the sprocket carrier is different
so i changed it but i stand to be corrected.

I know that changing from LTD 16" wheel to a uk size 18" there was a difference of a couple of mill on the brake caliper spacers. UK spec needed the longer one.
The symptoms you describe are the same and its difficult to spot as its only a couple of mill.
If you measure yours and post the dimensions you have for each one I am sure one of us can check them agaisnt ours.
I can always whip a wheel out of my A1.
Dont get frustrated though I am sure we can sort it with some measurements.

Davy there is a difference in both sprocket carriers and spacers when alloy wheels (Kawasaki) are fitted
some A2's had alloy wheels fitted but I believe it was an extra cost

Even after getting a sprocket carrier suitable for mags, the brake caliper can still bind if the spacing around it is off. It gets pulled out of line as the spindle is tightened and grips the disc. Can take a bit of buggering around to get right.
I got a handful of washers of different thicknesses and got the spacing right with those (along with the standard spacers). Then, I got new spacers made up to the thickness I needed using the washers as a guide.

Pulled it apart again,

knocked the bearings out the wheel, center spacer is 70mm and the sprocket carrier is 43mm.the center spacer was pretty loose between the bearings the carrier spacer does make contact with the inner bearing, the only place were there is a small gap is where the carrier spacer comes to the outside, but was told there should be a small gap here so the external spacer acts on the bearing not the spacer.will get new bearings tomorrow and reassemble, will also try Northman's idea about the external spacers.thanks for the respone lads.
