Outage relay could be the problem Jon!! indicator light should flash if lamp has blown, the outage realy if you have one should be mounted near to the coils under the tank,it slips into a metal bracket on rh coil,if its duff they are a bit like Rockin horse crap...

Jon, I seem to remember that when the light stays on, it is trouble with the outage relay unit (beside the Lhs coil)..... I have had a few with that symptom. Don't know where you get a replacement!
Hopefully I'm wrong.

Yes I agree. I had same problem, replaced the relay unit and problem solved. Replacement unit was kindly supplied by a club member at reasonable cost.

OK tank came off. There is a small rectangular box under the left coil. Appears to be wired in.

I assume I can run with the relay disconnected for now. Anyone got one that works?
