Scary moment

#1 PostAuthor: SMR610 » Fri Jun 15, 2007 7:44 pm

A couple of times now my bike has bogged down whilst trying to
make a quick getaway from a standstill, this afternoon was the
worst cos it did it on a busy roundabout with a car looming down
on me.
Bike is a GPZ1100 running CVs and seperate K&Ns, do you think
it`s this carb setup that is causing this problem or should I be
looking else where?
Any advice most welcomed or I`ll have to find a route to work
without roundabouts.

Cheers

Allan

Are they Dynojetted :?:
CV carbs are notoriously difficult to set up with K&N's (or any non standard filter). Either get a standard airbox or non CV carbs, Mikuni RS are best, for around ?200 on eBay

Not sure what bike the carbs are off of but they are
standard issue Mikunis, was told they were
Dyno jetted haven`t checked though, if they are what
size would the jets be?
There is no airbox it`s got 4 K&N cone type filters.

If Dynojetted, the needles are usually 'waisted' near the end, its also common for the hole in the casting that lets air into the rubber CV bit, to have been drilled out a bit. As for jet size, you need to know what the standards were :?

I haven`t had this bjke long, it has done it before but I think
It was more noticable this time cos it happened in busy traffic.

Went looking for it today, if I use reasonable amounts of throttle
or have at least 3500rpm dialled in you`d never know there`s a
problem if the throttle is cracked open quick at lower revs then
it bogs down and gets spluttery release the throttle a bit and it
starts to pick up cleanly.
