Seat pan Ltd to Z1A

I am doing a full back to original resto on my Z1A and would like any pearls of wisdom as to wheather it would be more "authentic" to use the Kawasaki Ltd style seat, which was on the bike when purchased, and recover it using the correct shape foam or to use a reproduction replacement seat from Zpower?
Is there any difference between Z1 and Ltd seat pans?
Is it immediately obvious if you have used a repro seat?
Is it ok to re-cover an original seat if your trying to keep as original as possible?
If any restoration guru's out there could shed any light I would be grateful, Cheers Dave

Dave,

I bought a "new" seat from Z Power for my 900A4 FIFTEEN years ago. It still looks brand new!!!

Hi Dave
I had the same problem - Z1 wearing Z1000 Ltd seat - think it was a popular "fix" over in the states. Have a look at the before pics on me website and you'll see.

If you get a correct Z1 seat foam and cover they will not fit the LTD pan - it is too low at the front edges. You can't trim the pan back either - because you will lose the seat spikes.

Get a repro seat and hinges from Z Power and save yourself the grief - wish I had!!

Cheers from Mark

p.s. there were two versions at Z Power - I tried the cheapest which looked the best but was unhappy with the cover material - might have been a bad batch I suppose. Anyhow Dave Marsden traded it back for the more expensive copy and that has been fine.
