Z1OwnersClub GB

I am looking to fit some Ohlins forks to my Z900 but they don't do a specific Z1/Z900 fitment. After about 6 weeks of asking I have discovered that the Ohlins come in two lengths, 770mm (for a ZRX1200) and 800m (for an XJR1300 or CB1300). The forks will be going into 43mm sculpture yokes.

The ZRX option appeals just because it is a Kawasaki but the longer forks would be safer. I can always drop the yokes if the forks are too long but if they are too short then I am completely stuffed.

BTW I only joined this forum recently and it has been a fantastic inspiration. I am really enjoying reading about all the projects and look forward to reporting on my progress. I am sorting out the chassis first (forks, swingarm, brakes, wheels) and will then move on to the engine.

Go for longest - you can always have a bit sticking up thru' the top yoke if needs be

Seriously though zrx are the same length as j model legs (deffo) and are slightly longer than normal zed. I think.

there were two sets on ebay last wk for the xjr1300,about £1500 new,didnt sell

I contacted the seller on ebay after the auction failed and suggested he had overpiced them. We reached a provisional deal at a lower price but he is in Croatia and we couldn't agree on how to complete the sale in a way that made both of us comfortable.

I measured the Z900 forks last night and the extended distance from spindle centre to fork top is 780mm. As I shall fit 17" wheels with a smaller overall diameter, I will go for the longer 800mm forks. As Pigford says, I can always lower the yokes.
