Hi folks
Just a long shot - I'm getting a front metal brake pipe re-zinced.
Thread on the union that goes into the hose is tight at the end - it's not the internal thread on the hose.
Anyone got the correct m10 fine pitch die I can put across it to sort it out before plating?
Or anyone recommend a good supplier of loose dies - cos the 8s and 10s in my set are normal pitch not fine so not good for kawas.
Thanks for looking from Mark

Two ways to do it .
One
Get one from club member Jez he is near you at Tamworth or he has them on ebay

Two If you are going to The Donington show next week I can lend you a thread file to clean it up.
Have fun

Thanks for the info so far guys.
It is an original Z650 B1 brake pipe - different to the Z1/ 900 ones - so I want to preserve it if I can.
I have a local offer of thread file (thanks Paul) so it's just if anyone can put me on to a fine thread die - or a supplier of these.
My brother's garage can make up brake pipes so might try there next week
Only other thought I had was to grind back the lip on the pipe end and fit a new union.
Thanks from Mark

Thanks Guys
Any ideas on a cheaper loose tap & die supplier out there - £13.50 for a 10mm ones seems a bit high.
Will give West Brom Fasteners a ring next week and let you know if they are cheaper.

To be honest Pertonpc, £13.50 sounds cheap, for a good quality die !
You have another PM mate.

Thanks again everyone.
Really appreciate all the offers of help with this.
Mission now accomplished
Borrowed a Rolson 40 piece metric tap & die set from brothers mate and it comes with normal and fine pitch taps and dies.
Brake union was m10 x 1.25pitch and its cleaned up and screwing in like a good un now.
Cheers from Mark

Just an update for anyone still giving a crap about this stuff -
Found the ROLSON coarse and fine tap & die set on Amazon for £25 which I think is pretty cool considering M10 x 1.25 pitch dies were going for £13 on their own.
Amazon was well cheaper than eBay - I checked.
Seems to have most of the sizes in my 650 manual up to M12 covered apart from M12 x 1.25 (rear shock nuts, lower fork clamp bolts, oil pressure relief valve)
I have used this set today and quality seems ok for the DIY person cleaning up and repairing threads - perhaps not professional engineer/ restorer quality - but a cracking price.
