Z1-R trip reset knob

I have a Z1-R km/h speedo without the trip reset knob. I got a mph speedo from England with the knob intact. How do I remove the knob from the mph speedo ?
It doesn't look like the knob on the kmh speedo is broken off, just fallen off. There are some treads down there.
Any tips that prevents me from breaking the mph knob when I try to remove it ? Cheers
