Z1000 A1, What exhaust ?

Hi everyone,

Decided to start some major work on the zed, the engine was powdercoated silver by the previous owner, the problem is the powdercoating has turned yellow with the heat.

Last week I took the engine out and started to strip it down, I'm going to send the casings to Stephen Smethurst to have them cleaned and blasted.

Now to the exhaust, the bike was fitted with a Harris 4-1, which I like.
Bike has a braced swing-arm and the Harris looks good against it and doesn't sound bad either. Problem is the silencer has got a little tatty, the chrome has started to flake. Downpipes are in good condition though.

If I could have bought another Harris silencer that would have been ideal, can't get them anymore.

I'm thinking along the lines of the Vance and Hines or a Kerker.
Has anyone out there got any advice for me (drain plug/filter access, jetting, looks, quality, sound etc), any pics with one of those systems fitted to a Z1000 ?

Are there any other systems worth looking at, the Marshall Deeptone systems look very similar to the Vance and Hines.

As a last resort I might consider getting the Harris silencer re-chromed ?

Cheers,

Rob...
