speedo drive Z1B

#1 PostAuthor: bob fell » Tue Dec 27, 2011 1:26 pm

Hi all

I recently had a wheel rebuild and since I put the wheel back the speedo doesn`t work, I didn`t turn the drive onto the spindle but followed the manual and held the drive still and turned the spindle, anyway I`m wondering about the position of the drive to cable position as it may not be connecting, do I just slacken the cups and rotate the hub so the drive and speedo female end lines up better with the speedo , is there any correct way of positioning it? apart from that all is fine

Regards

Bob :(

Bob, sounds as so it needs inspection.
Firstly, set bike up on centre stand, disconnect speedo cable at speedo.
Get someone heavy to hold down rear of bike to lift front wheel.
Spin front wheel, whilst holding the speed end of the cable and see if it is rotating.

If not rotating, remove wheel and inspect speedo drive, suspect bent drive /broken worm drive, or, maybe just the assembly and the drive is not engaged. Adjust into position by feel!
