I have a US model KZ1000 with single front disc and want to convert it to twin disc (parts wanted - see that section)

Is the twin disc set-up master cylinder the same as the single disc master cylinder :?:

You need a 5/8 for two discs - the single one is 3/8. It says underneath what it is.

recently upgraded my kz1000,
some of the kz had the 5/8 cylinders on single discs for owners to upgrade if required,
also if you buy a new/secondhand disc make sure its the same thickness as the one you have on at the moment, best if you can buy a complete twin set up off a bike.
while doing it put on braided hoses
think there is a set on usa ebay at the moment, just the time and postage is a problem

Thanks - very useful

Thanks for this information. I have sourced two callipers and a splitter and possibly also two discs so getting there.

I have looked underneath the master cylinder and all it says is PAN TOKICO and then there is the number 14 - no sign of 5/8 or 3/8 - is there another wau to tell if my master is compatible with thetwin setup?

Also is this conversion really worth doing as I understand the brakes are not the best in the world either way - is there a noticeable difference?

think you'll find the reservouir is phsically taller for the twin disc - checked and it's 3" from top to bottom - the reservouir that is!

find the 2 discs help but back is pretty dull

i suppose, as any good lady would say, 2 upfront are better than 1 and 1 is better than none :)

That'll be a 14mm one - they work on 5/8 and 14mm bore size now. You'll be better off getting a 5/8 one for twin disks
