Z1000 Airbox question

So I've just acquired a nearly complete airbox assy for my 77 KZ1000A1 (cheers Kev :D ). When I looked at the Z power parts book I noticed that the illustration shows that the A1 airbox has a recess on the front face into which a mounting plate seats, holding the 4 inlet rubbers in place (this is secured by 8 panhead screws). See photo below - this is a 77 airbox currently on Ebay.
However, my box has a flat 'flush' front face, with no recess or plate. The inlet rubbers aren't fitted at present but it looks like they locate directly into the 4 holes in the front face of the box (there are two larger diameter 'rings' moulded in the rubbers which hold them in the holes). The airbox I have has two id numbers on the front face:
KH1 DGM 31311 S and beneath that: KH1 DGM 33280 S
Apart from the front face, the whole assy looks almost identical to the one in the picture.
Soooo... I'm just wondering whether my new airbox is perhaps from a later 1000 model and whether it'll fit my A1 OK.

Quick update: I just spotted an airbox on Ebay that's identical to the one I''ve got. Seller says this fits KZ1000 79 onwards but doesn't mention 77/78 models. Have a look:

So will it fit my 77?...... :geek

Hi Steven - thanks for the reply.
So you have the box with the plain flat front/no recessed mounting plate? Do your inlet rubbers mount directly into the front face of the box then?

BZ - I'll give you a shout this week. If you get a moment, maybe you could take a look at your box - see which type it is.And yes, you're right - 1 airbox, no motorcycle

Hi, Yes mine has a flush flat face and the rubbers fit directly into this, it is very similar to the second ebay one you found except that one seems to have a pipe spigot or something on the top just in front of the filter lid which mine does not have.I believe mine to be original but not 100% sure, I do know it fits perfectly though.
