After seeing those bikes from Sanctuary etc I am being drawn towards rebuilding my bike like them, but on a much tighter budget. I've bought a nice swing arm and now I'm looking for a nice set of wheels. I really don't know much about what models I can harvest parts from to suit my Zed, but have heard something about GSXR so did an ebay trawl. Loads of decent looking wheels for about £15 a pop. Could I get myself a set of these? also need to know about the forks?

any advice welcome. well most..

Bandit 600 wheels are dirt cheap & 17" with a 160 rear, so easy fit

I happen to have a Bandit 600 s/arm - they're steel so easy to weld a couple of twin shox lugs on them

As it happens (Guyz & Galz) I also have a Gixxer front end (RWU) with 17" wheel which I may be persuaded to part with

Someone will be along much more knowledgable than me but if it`s the Sanctuary style you want then It`s either late ZX or 10 year old CBR wheels. There are RSV wheels of course. Just keep away from 3 spokes. Anything can be made to fit.

Thanks, I'll have a look at the bandit wheels and might have the lot of you.

Simon, you had a couple of recomendations to achieve that Sanctuary swagger...

It's your choice Glynn but I feel the look is more important than the practicality.
The 5 spoke OZ or 10 spoke gale speed are what does it for me.

If your budget is as low as mine then I understand.

I'll check them out too, most wheels I've seen tonight are 3 spoke though. It's early days yet but I'll start a project thread, or is that shoe string..

3 spokes are common..therefore cheap. But I'd be quite happy with that look. Best go for ZXR400 wheels.

All the flash aftermarket wheels are 5 or 7 spoke so will look like you've got expensive ones. Older CBR 600s are 7 spoke. And the early VRF750 fronts look good.
I'm in the lookout for RS 250 wheels but have a set from a Zephyr 1100 which will probably ens up on mine.
If you go with kawasaki wheels then the chances are most dimentions will be common.....i.e. disc brake carrier etc.

Which ever you go for watch the hub widths, Suzuki wheels are usually narrower hubs than Kawa for the Bandit / SV / GSXR 750 / ZXR etc. Have a good measure of what you want to buy before buying, don't forget to cost disks and calipers etc as well. It may be better to buy the front and rear end from a donor bike and try to sell on the bits you don't want.
Don't buy the first thing that comes along, do your homework and then go shopping.

Apparently GS500 sprocket carriers are narrower and fit the later wheels
