oil light

can anyone tell me why my oil light will not go out when the engine is started its not low on oil it on a z1000 cheers

no oil pressure or the sensor has shorted out or the cable to the sensor has shorted to earth somewhere.
Try disconnecting it from the pressure switch it should go out,

as taffus said remove the wire from the oil pressure switch the light should go out. if not remove switch. clean + make sure the switch is not stuck in the closed position. make sure the wire is not shorted to earth. otherwise could be the oil pump pick up blocked with sludge + old remnants of gasket paper
