One of the pipes on my KH500 seems to have developed some holes
One is right on the seam on the underside and there is a very paper thin section further along which will need careful sorting otherwise it will go into a hole.
Its difficult to find a decent replacement and the pipe is solid everywhere else with great chrome.
Any ideas greatly appreciated

Many years ago I got my pipes (standard system) on my Z1A repaired.

I told the guy I wanted stainless patches welded using stainless rods.

It worked out really well.

I got a good 3 years out of them, then I sold them to a guy from Peterborough.

If its near the seam then they are scrap.Kh500 and h1 pipes are fairly common.I found a set of 3 at this last stafford show for a club member for 300 quid.

Its a shame because the pipe is mint with realy good chrome and no scrapes or dinks and the other two pipes are fine. I cant see me getting it through an MOT though with it leaking smoke from the underside.

Exhaust paste will be enough to get it MOT'd.

As long as it has NO LEAKS from the system.

If its just to get it tested and use while a good set turns up you can seal the hole with araldite.The 2t pipes run pretty cool so it holds up well.

Steve, i have had some success witha poduct from Halfords,Plastic Padding Chemical Metal,i mixed some aluminium paint into it and it sets rock hard and is petrol and oil proof,i even sealed a sump on a car with it,it even looks ok with the ally paint in it and you can file and smooth it,give it a go,,Cheers Paul(i love Suzukis) J

Or what about a piece of "retro" SUPER BAZOOKA gum.

Chew it for an hour, then "mould" it over the holes in question. Once dry a quick paint with shiney silver paint.

I am now resigned to using filler on it and will get the pipe off at the weekend and sort it. Should be okay as like Adrian says the pipes dont get that hot and its well away from the header.
Do they still sell that super Bazooka gum then ? Havent seen that for years ? Wasnt it pink ?
