If you don't mind doing a bit of wiring, fit some relays to the headlight.
You can buy them in Maplins or Halfords for about £5 each.
A small drop in voltage makes a big difference in brightness with a halogen bulb. I was loosing 3 volts through the wiring of my 1100R so wired in some relays - massive difference.
I fitted an HID kit of ebay to my car. Though a lot brighter, not too impressed with the beam spread. I think the reflector has be designed properly for the HID bulbs.
If you don't like wiring, you can buy a ready wired kit from http://easternbeaver.com/Main/Products/ ... _kits.html
Brought one of these for another bike.

I put a chrome headlight from a 600 bandit on mine. It fitted without much trouble & gives a decent light.

HID light kit is the way to go. Got one on mine and it's as bright as any modern bike. :D

Is it a modular part that clips into the headlamp or is there some rewiring involved through loom to the battery
thanks

Definitely some rewiring to be done so unless you are confident with electrics I would get a kit and pay someone to fit it.
