My 1978 KZ1000 has a new four into 2 system suplied by Z Power - it looks nice but is very quiet.

Is it possible to buy the original 4 into 2 system for this model or any other suggestions - however, I do not want to go the 4 into 1 route?

Not sure if the original Kawasaki 4-2 system is still available,Phil @ Z-POWER will be able to tell you.
I know you don't really want a 4-1,but if you decide to go for one a chrome Vance and Hines 4-1 suits the looks of the bike, sounds great but isn't too loud and costs approx ?220?? from Jeff Saunders @ Z1 Enterprises in the USA.There is a link in the links section.

Keith (a member on here) has posted recently that he found some original systems both new and used, but they won't be cheap though.

hi

i was quoted about ?600 for a good 2nd hand and ?1200 for new oem

don't know if he was having a laugh but i nearly had a heart attack!

having said that a stamped set for a z9 will cost wellover a grand so probably not that bad and i think the stock 4 into 2 make the bike and a hell of a difference to the price they fetch

don't know what sort of note your looking for but the standrd system is relatively quite as wel and may be no louder than the set form zpower

if you want the details just let me know

regards

Thanks - I would like to hunt down some oem or original style pattern exhausts, so any help with this is welcome. I would have to hear a bike with them fitted before buying - sound after all is important.

If I did go the 4 into 1 route then would consider the Vance and Hines - or what elso looks and sounds good?

PS I also ride a Harley and have just taken the Vance & Hines Big Shot pipes off it because my buddies say it makes their ears bleed! So I like a good sound but not to make a massive noise

Yes it sure looks good - can you drain the engine oil and change the oil filter without moving the exhaust?

Also, do you have any MOT / Police hassle with it fitted?

I will let you know in the next week or so, as I have my MOT due, I have only owned this bike a few weeks, so it hasn't been on the road yet.

are you looking for a certain "sound" or originality?

mine has origianls on and you would be more than welcome to listen to it if you want

however i'm some distance away and i'm sure there will be someone else closer to you that would be able to assist? - you can then make your mind up if th sound of the originals is what your after or not- asmentioned the originals sound is quite muted and doesn't give the 4-1 deeptone

if it is and your wallett can take a battering let me know and i'll point you in the right direction#

You should have no problem with MOT or Police on bikes of this age as they do not have to meet any emission test or particular noise regulations.

I have the Eagle 4-1 on my Z1B which I think is the same as the Vance & Hines, it looks and sounds good without being noisy.

I had a Vance and Hines on my white Z1000J3,it had a centre fitted and i could change the oil and filter without taking it off.
The sound is nice and low and there are no issues with MOT or Police.
Best pipe for a road Z in my opinion, well made, easy to fit and great value for money as well :D :D

1340fxd, after looking at that machine from UK Kev, how could you go passed it? You have made up my mine ...it has to be a four into one KERKER.
Off the topic... Where did UK Kev get that Yoshimura point cover?
I've seen Mirowaki, but can't seem to get his "father's-in-law" POP's points cover.

Garn, that's a Moriwaki cover but not a genuine one.
Speak to Steve Cundall "Big Green Bus" if you want one.
They're CNC machined and are top quality but don't have the chamfered lower edge like the genuine Moriwaki covers.

I used Gazelle in Pembroke to make a Kerker replica with a slightly shorter end can that sounds as good as it looks and comes in Stainless with a lifetime warranty. They will make whatever you want in stainless so if a 4-2 floats your boat then they will do that too.[img][/img]
