just got a KZ1000 the rear brake is sticking on when in use.
have taken calaper off and cleaned, dust seal and top of pistons refitted b
but no better, can any one give me some advice on what to do next.

Shaun, it could be a blockage in the return hole in your rear master cylinder.
Remove cap and observe. Get ready for any splashing from the area and apply brake. There should be a litte squirt of fluid coming from the smaller of the two holes. If not, shes blocked. Get a pin chuck with a fine needle and gently poke. It's a very fine hole so you may need to grind the needle down, be careful and don't put the brake on whilst needle is in hole!

Fuse wire works well.

or it may be crud behind the seal causing the piston not to retract due to the "stiction" effect of the seal.

Thanks Rich, yeah! fuse wire would work. However, I remembered another thing.... You have trouble seeing the hole if your oil isn't crystal clear. so you may have to (suck) empty most out. I'm sure this rear M/C is the problem.

could pull strand from wire brush - always works for me especially when clearing the fine holes on the window washer jets on the car

had same problem recently with mine - stripped and found heavy crud as Rich mentions which may have built up due to the absence of the top inspection cover

fully cleaned and took opportunity to replace both pistonsas , cost approx ?38, which appears to have cured problem

On my J corrosion on the rear brake lever pivot cause the brakes to lock on and not release properly. If the other suggerstions dont work have a look at that. A little sandpaper and gease solved that
