Dyna S fitting help

#1 PostAuthor: ukcoupe » Thu Sep 22, 2011 5:54 pm

Guys,

I am having a Dyna S setup fitted to replace the ageing and temperamental Boyer ignition on my A2, but appear to have run into a small snag.

I appear to be missing the hex washer that went between the bolt head and the advance mechanism.
Z-Power told me I don't need it, but looking on line, the instructions say to install the hex washer.

Can anyone confirm whether I need this washer or not? And if I do, has anyone got a spare?

Cheers

Chris

ps. If I sound like I don't know what I am talking about, that's because I don't ,but the guy installing it for me has asked me, so I am asking you lot who know everything and will hopefully sort me out so I can enjoy riding my bike for at least the fag end of the summer! Ta.

Mark (T) that would be amazing! I am in Crouch End N8. Let me know. I'll PM you my details anyway so hopefully we can work something out.

Cheers boys.

UKCoupe, I usually discard the thin shim washer on the adv mechanism, when fitting a DynaS.

Thanks for the input guys.
I'll pass on the info to a mechanic recommended to me by Paul (BunnysZ) who is doing the ignition and helping me get the old girl rocking again.
It's hopefully the final piece in a very depressing puzzle that has seen me strip and rebuild carbs literally dozens of times, do the wiredgeorge mod on the coils, have the shims done etc, etc...... and still have the bike running roughly and mostly on three cylinders. It looks like the Boyer on the bike is behaving erratically and rather than try and fix it, I am just replacing it with a Dyna S.
Only slight fly in the ointment is there are none in the country at the moment!
Hopefully next week.

cheers

Chris
