Go Faster?
This winter contemplating doing something with my ltd 1000 (j type motor)
no not a gallon of petrol and a match or chucking it in a skip etc etc etc.
Build some sort of modded bike out of it, but am i right in saying cuz the motors in a ltd its not as powerful as if it was in a J ?
If so could it be brought up to that spec and if so whats involved?

If it is down a bit on power, I'm pretty sure it's only the cams.
P.S. As far as I'm aware all the 1100 engines after 83 had all the same internals.....ie the shaft version had the same cams & valves as the Gpz.
I'm trying to confirm this but as yet havn't been able to get hold of the parts catalogue for the non Gpz bikes....
If it's true, it might be worth getting hold of an old shaft engine and chucking the barrels & top end on your J

I'm interested in this thread, not because I can help but wondering how to get more power out of my Z1100R.
Engine has to come apart this winter to check the crank after a crash.
It's 1170cc, flowed head, PMC race pipe but standard carbs.
Measured as only 87 at the rear wheel 3K miles after the rebuild.
Exactly the same as before it was rebuilt on the same dyno and part of the reason for the rebuild was it was down on power from it's prime (years before I had 98hp at the rear wheel - different dyno but it had lost some kick over the years).
Power curve is very smooth and it carburates perfectly on the road so no obvious reason I can see.
Thinking of Mikuni RS carbs or different cams. Suggestions welcome.

Mikey don't be fooled by some of these foolish suggestions of how to go faster , some people will tell you owt
This is what you need for a no nonesense proven horsepower increase
I don't know if you knew this but - running an engine with a standard air intake is like going through life with a head cold
