Check the other Boyer ignition thread, about seven items down the list.

Boyer ignitions seem to be "fit and forget" in so much as once fitted you can forget any plans you may have had for a ride out.

My bike had one of these installed when I bought it played up when the weather was hot. It's now safely in a box in the garage where it can do no more harm.

There seem to be a lot of posts regarding electronic ignitions lateley, yet none relating to standard points & condenser systems which begs the question what was the original problem that electronic ignitions were supposed to cure?

Anyway, see the previous thread which gives a link to the Boyer fault finding page and returns process.

Good luck,

Andy

Come on Hack, POINTS & CONDENSER :| :?:

1; Never get 'em 'spot - on' no matter how long you spend tinkering
2; If you do get 'em anywhere near 'spot - on', after one ride they've shifted/pitted/bounced/worn their way to another setting
........ etc
99; Low power spark

Maybe alright for a show bike that ain't going nowhere

If the ignition was new off Zed Power and less than a year old I'd get back to them about it. They need to sell you one that works and it should have a guarantee. I would always recommend a Dyna over any of the others as I can't recall any problems with any of them on here, and the one I have is trouble free. Both Boyer and Newtronics do seem to crop up a fair bit in the threads

The electronic ignition fitted by Kawasaki later on the 1000R and so was pretty good and doesn't really need replacing

Don't tell em that Chris it'll bump me spares prices up :x

Typical electrical stuff - leave it on for 24 hrs if it doesn't melt it probably never will
As Chris says if it's in guarantee it has to be fit for use.

seems to me that these boyer ign work as well on the bike as they do OFF.so happy im still running good old points setup this set have been on for 7 yrs without an ounce of shit from them .they say electronic give a bigger brighter spark ,just wonderd if you could modify the boyer ,take the pickups off and attach 2 pieces of flint and the old cam as a stricker well those with boyer have nout to loose.sorry could not resist must be real pain in the ass after spending hard cash to better the bike .

I think I'd try and exchange it for a Dyna system.

I'm with Hack on this, points/condensors for me. On my 3rd set of points in 23 years.
