Any tips on fitting the fekkin outer dust seals to Kawafekkinsaki calipers. :dead It's driving me nuts. The manual says fit the new piston then the outer dust seal. How the hell do you get the lip of the concertina dust seal into the groove on the caliper. Help before I mutilate and kill my bike.

Pasc make sure that the groove in the caliper body is absolutely spotless so that the lip of the seal will seat properly.
Not the best of jobs to do.

Jack, grooves are clean. It's looking like I might need to coax the seal in with some sort of blunt instrument. Probably the same blunt instrument that I'll end up prizing my eyeballs out of the sockets when I decide to do something less painless than these bastard seals. :kod

Just done that pain in the arse job it runs a close second to fitting carb rubbers my advice is a little silicone spray and remove all blunt instruments before you start.

Wahay, sussed the little fekkers.
Put the seal around the piston near the bottom. Fit the lip of the seal into the groove then gently push the piston past the lip and into the caliper and Bobs the strange bloke thats not really married to your auntie. :beer

I had also major problems getting the dust seals into the calipers on my J.

Firstly I cleaned everything perfectly and inserted both the seal and the dust cover into the groove in tha caliper body. Now comes the tricky part

I invited wifey for some quality time in the garage. Using the fingers of 3 hands we spread the mouth of the dust seal as wide as we could across the face of the caliper. Amazingly we were able to stretch it wider than the caliper bore and because we held it down flat against the face of the caliper it did not leave the caliper grooves. Then with the remaining hand popped the piston into the bore. Your really nneed three hand cause the mouth of the seal has to be stretched really wide all around
Success is the ability to go from one failure to another without loss of enthusiasm

Powder coating it is then.
I've had competetive prices from Triple S powder coaters and Maldon powder coaters. Any views or opinions on either company ?

Hi Pasc,
I have used triple s for 20 years. Andy is a top bloke who personally does everything, he pretty much only does bike bits and he does a first class job.
I am fussy as hell and have never had a problem can not recomend him highly enough.

Regards Steve R
