looking at a restored a4 on ebay
it's hada new frame and owner has provided eng. no,. - 110961 which is in the series allocated to the Z900 B Ltd.
does anyone know if any of the engines were put in ther last of the a4's at all or did they stop at 108502?
if so whilst bike looks great appears to been put together from a collection of parts with not much relating to an original bike
cheers

If it's an import it could have been an A5 - a '77 US built one. Those engine numbers could well overlap with Ltds - I have a feeling this has been mentioned before.

Keith,
The engine numbers for A4's rise much faster than the frame numbers. I presume this is because the same engines were being used in both A4's and Ltd's. Therefore the later in 1976 the bike was made the greater the difference between engine and frame numbers.
My A4 comprises Z1F108725 & Z1E124825 and looking on Pierre's site this looks to be correct (see links page). In fact the last Z900 on his site has engine no. Z1E 137289.

Kieth, with engine Z1E-110961, the corresponding frame number would be approx Z1F-100900, which was manufactutred approx 2/76. and would be a KZ900 (Z900)A4.
Engine Z1E 108502 would correspond to a frame Z1F-098000, which was manufactured approx 12/75 and would also be a KZ900 (Z900) A4.
The last Z900A4 I have on my records was a green Z900-A4, with engine Z1E-137289 with frame Z1F-116967, manf 08/76. Note, this could have been called an A5 in other countries (other than Australia) The last engine I have is Z1E-137387 with a non-matching recovered (from stolen) frame.
There has always been a haze (in my mind) around the KZ900 manufactured in Lincoln Nebraska starting in the 97000 series of engines (frames?). Also, I can't get much info on the Kz900-A5 and LTD's. which must have been at the end of the run of Kz900-A4's. The Z1000 were first manfactured around 10/76.

Keith I don't think it would have helped - it must have been well before the forum changed over and we were only able to bring back to about May '06 with us....

Garn was this bike sold as a new A4 in Australia after the Z1000 was already on sale then?

Kieth, I'm checking out that Z900-A4/ A5 manufactured 8/76. I know the owner.
The first Z1000, I have recorded as frame KZT00A-005536, Eng number KZT00AE- 008863, manufactured 10/76.

Kieth, no luck with owner of above mentioned {a green Z900-A4, with engine Z1E-137289 with frame Z1F-116967, manf 08/76900-A4/ A5 (Paul)} and it has been sold, however, he was not original owner and he purchased it as an A4.
He said he has seen a Z900-Ltd recently on E-bay with a frame number Z1E- 1085XX number.
It seems hard to define when A5's started and when the KZ900-LTD started. All I've read is that Kawasaki produced 29,090 KZ/ Z900 A4's, whether that incloudes A5's & Z900Ltd, I can't determine.
