Is it a bad idea to take the carbs off the mounting plate?
I want to clean them, and I have an ultrasonic cleaner, but it is too small for all the carbs at once, I wouldn't be able to one half then the other half either.
Will putting them back together be a nightmare?
Cheers

You shouldn't have any trouble splitting and re-assembling them as long as you keep all the parts laid out in order etc so that each carb gets rebuilt with its original bits ( Or strip and rebuild one at a time )
You do know that it is a bad idea to ultrasonic them without totally stripping the bodies bare don't you ???.
The vibrations can wear mating surfaces , jet needles, mixture screw threads etc were they touch each other.

Gprd I stripped my carbs in order to have them ultrasonicaly cleaned something I have never done before and as yourself was a little worried I would cock it up. However I found the best thing was to photograph each small step in the stripdown whilst keeping all parts in indiviual boxes so all bits went back where they came from. Take note of airscrew settings you will probably reset to stock position for set up but any major changes will become obvious as you progress. I know it all seems a little daunting but get set up on the dinning table with all the tools required and manual to hand and you will be supprised how simple it is in reality. If I can do it anyone can.

Cheers, thanks for that.
I didn't know that it could wear the mating surfaces, but I was going to totally strip them any way.
Good advice, which I will follow. Thank god for digital cameras eh!
