Anyone had any experience of resilvering (ie replaceing the reflective coating) on headlight unit?

i was looking at mine tday and saw lots of dull areas. There must be a way. Can they not be simply rechromed...

What I know so far is that it is some sort of silver, not chrome, and is only a few microns thick.
The back of the reflector is a different finish so it would not be possible to dip the item as when chroming.
I did discuss this with an MG enthusiast but was in the pub at the time. I forget the detail of what he said. I`ll get in touch with him to ask again.

I owned a MGF many years ago so I'd presume said MG enthusiast owned the same model which had a habit of de-silvering it's headlight bowls thus failing it's MOT on beam pattern.
Found
THIS on the MGF site which lists a company who re-silvers headlight bowls.
