long mudguard - rear wheel removal

#1 PostAuthor: Keith » Tue May 01, 2007 8:02 pm

deflated tyre still couldn't get passed the mudguard - looks as though would be ok with short one and convienently handbook seems to overlook mentioning anything about the long one!

Ended up using a scissor car jack to raise back end to gain suffcient height to pull it through

seems an awful lot of messing about for what should be a simple task - anyone got any handy hints?

Keith,
This should be a doddle, can't understand why you'd have so much trouble.
The rear wheel should come out easily even with 4:4's fitted. I assume you slackened the spindle-nut, disconnected the brake rod, slackened the adjusters off, pushed wheel fully fwd, slid chain over & off sprocket then pull the wheel out.. I've done it hundreds of time using just the centre-stand as support.

I assume you've got a std swing-arm?

Mike.

Mike

Thanks for reply

it's a z1000 -shouldn't be any different thoughfrom the 900 though as tyre sizes are the same

followed things to the t but still wouldn't pass though the gap between side of the long mudguard and silencer!

may be had too much tread on or alternatively may have had something to do with the few pints i had night before?

Keith
