so i know a lot of you knew phils a4 which i have just purchased ,
couple of questions if i may
on my own a4 i had a 2/4 seat so dont know what the std one looks like , i just dont think this one looks right , should it have a strap as well ?
i dont want to go mad with the changes and to be honest any will probably wait till winter so that i can use her in the meantime .
bearing in mind this is a relatively untouched bike but i would like to get it back to how it really should be !!
another pet hate of mine is Allen screws , of which there are a few
ie casings , chainguard any links or sources for cross heads and are they just bzp .
TIA

I think from memory the seat on Phils bike was an aftermarket one or had at least ben recovered. Easy enough to check if you post a photo of the seat base Ken

No Ken if you post on here there are a few around. You can get the foam and some decent seat covers on e bay. Its the base that is important if you want the seat to sit right.

Hi Ken,
Good luck with that bike matey. It is very well known on here and I am sure you will get loads of support to keep her up to scratch.
I reckon the finish on the casing bolts is bzp. If you get any re-zinced make sure they do a clear passivate at the end or the finish will not last.
Jap bikes use jap standard pan head screws - these have a smaller head than european ones so watch out for that. I believe Z Power and a few others do replacement pan head screw kits which should be like the originals. When I have gone to kawa dealers for odd screws the head seems to have changed over the years and the slot pattern doesn't always match the old ones.
Cheers from Mark

Hugh, if I end up keeping my A4 I would be happy to let you have the seat. I'm pretty sure it is the original base, although I can't be certain, but the foam has been cut down at some point, however it might be a good starting point.
Unfortunately it is for sale so the proviso would be if it doesn't sell.

Hugh. The seats do come up from time to time on Ebay.
I got mine for £170 (NOS original). They are super rare with a strap fitted though.

my next question , when i had my a4 , i;m sure the rear indies were onto the frame , but mines are onto the rear grab rail

it just doesnt look right , they dont sit level . has this been a mod ie have brackets been welded onto said grab rail ,
hopefully my "to do " list doesnt escalate any further

That is the correct version you have fitted Hugh. All UK Z900A4's came fitted with the modified grab rail. Getting rare now as most people take them off and fit the plain grab rails with the indicators fitted to the frame.
