Hi guys, hows things, not been around for a while, to much to do. I need some help, I put some new cam shaft end plugs in a Mk2 head, which had been bolted to an A1 bottom end, trouble is when you start up the one of the plugs pops out, they are Vesrah plugs that I got from Jeff in the states, so I assume they are ok. Anyone got any ideas on how I can stop them poping out?

Lot of people use alloy (APE) end plugs. These look good, are reusable (

) and can't 'pop-out'.
Assuming its not knackered cams with loads of end float, could be pressure build up due to various things eg. worn valve guides (blow-past) !
Try sealing it in?

Clean them off with acetone and put a drop of superglue on them to hold them in place until the rubber deforms

I've got the APE ones on mine, but the guy i'm doing this for doesn't want to spend the 20 odd sovs on them which is why i ended up with the vesrah ones. Thanks for the link Pigford I'll keep an eye on them.

Just had the end cap come out on my Z1a whilst riding;
oil everywhere only noticed as i was slowing down and my boot was slipping off the footrest. My jeans are covered, even traces of oil on the seat

Its in the garage now and will stick the next one in with glue.
I am hoping this is just a one off
Is this common

Have recently fitted new cover gasket and end plugs on my Z1A,they did weep slighly for the first few rides out.
Have been re-torqueing the bolts each time till they settle down wouldnt want to lose one though.

No you don't want to loose one. I speak from experiance. Engine, leg and foot gets heavily covered in oil and the rest of the bike does'nt fair much better. Holds back the rust though.

I ve literally stuck another rubber end cap in. Took it for a spin and thats now trying to come out. The bottom rounded edge is half out.
Whats going on
I really don`t want this to blow out again, i am still wiping oil from the bike.
However my right boot is completely waterproof now

As has been mentioned you could get the metal ones fron Debben - you can get them in black too so they'll look stock.
