suspect boyer ignition

#1 PostAuthor: stephen lavery » Tue Mar 16, 2010 10:08 pm

i believe the boyer ign is playing up it keeps fouling the plugs (very black sooty) to be honest i have never been happy with it. the carbs are set and synchronised. my question is if i fit dyna s will the boyer micro coils suit the dyna? if not will have to go back to points and standard coils as a cheaper option. made reduntant so money is very tight.

Dyna S will definitely work with standard coils. Not sure about those micro-coils, but if they are in the reach of 3 to 5 Ohms primary resistance, they're good to go.

Otherwise you will have to get coils with 3 Ohms resistance, e.g. Suzuki Bandit ones will fit nicely and aren't to pricy at the breakers.

Cheers,
Greg

thanks nanno, cant find any info on the resistance for the boyer micro coils. but i think i can lay my hands on a set of bandit coils.

If you have a multimeter, just measure the resistance between the two connectors, that go to the wiring harness. When it is above 2.5 Ohm and below (roughly) 5 ish. Then it'll work.
