No Spark

I have no spark!

I am trying to get my zed running, I bought it as a non runner, in so much as it hadn't been run in a couple of years. It was taken into the shop to have electronic ignition fitted, which was done, it then stood in the shop for a couple of years. When I bought it, it had a float bowl missing. And no battery, everything else appears to be, or is, there.
So I have managed to get a spare set of carbs, but at this time I have only used the float bowl, as the bike was ridden into the shop, so I assume the carbs are fine?

Ok then, this is where I am at, I have changed the fuel, fitted new plugs, fuel lines, and battery, and she turns over nice and strong, but will not fire, so on pulling #1 (L/H) plug there appears to be no spark at all?
Unfortunately, I don't have a workshop manual yet, so I cannot check the timing, but even if the timing was out there would/should be a spark? I wonder if the electronic ignition was set up correctly?

Battery back on charge now.

Anybody local fancy giving me a hand over the weekend sometime?

Kev, you say there is no spark on No1 pot. No1 is paired with No4. 2 and 3 are paired do you have a spark on either 2 or 3 ?

So I guess that means I have nothing going to the coils, which I suppose brings me back to the "newly fitted" ignition?

It will have to wait until tomorrow now, so I can spend the day on it, do any of you have the instalation instructions for the Newtronic ignition, and maybe a pdf of the timing setup?

Kev make sure that you have 12V feed to the coils and make sure that the engine kill switch isn't playing up and killing the engine all the time.
If your ignition proves to be the problem just fit a Dyna S as they are simple and very reliable.
The joys of buying a non-runner.Let's hope it's cheap and simple for you to sort out Kev :D

IT RUNS!

Sorry for being a prat, it was all so blindingly obvious. The answer was in an earlier thread by myself too.

I never connected the Blue earth wire from the ignition unit, as soon as I did that she fired right up.

Get her booked for an MOT as soon as my V5c comes back. I do have another question to do with wiring, but it can wait for the morning, I feel a beer coming on.
