If they're std older GPz1100 carbs (BS34), the mains are approx 125, so with an open pipe start at 130

130 - 135
I am running 135s on my Z1000J and it seems to work reasonably well.

Pilot jets may need to go up a size (eg: from 17.5 to 20) and th air screw will just need to be fine tuned

Ok pilot jet and not idle ...thanks for the lesson
How to fine tune the air screws. Someone told me about pointing each exhaust and measure the temp and adjust...Do you have a simpler method?

You could do worse than buy these to set up the carbs and in particular the 'air' (fuel) screws.

This is a special offer which saves a few quid!
As a general guide to setting up the rest and interpreting what you get with the above mentioned you might follow this.

Do you mean painting the exhausts??
You can tell a lot about initial temperature gains by putting candle wax on the uppermost exhaust stud of each cylinder and seeing which come up first and of course last.
Also useful if youve got a cylinder down and dont want to burn youre hands.
