Just bought a '77 Z900 fitted with K & N air filters, but it's not set up correctly.
Does anybody know what main jet size & needle setting would be needed.

Cheers

Oh' it's also running a 4 into 1 if that makes any difference

Hi Steve, I was advised to increase the mains by 10% if using pod filters, I asked this same question earlier this week.

Steve K, yeeh, +10% (so about 125/130) as a start point. This may err on the rich side, but better that then weak :!:
As for the needles, these will effect 1/4 to 1/2 throttle mixture. Do mains first then start fine tuning with needles after mains are OK. :wink:Some say the standard carbs are a pain to set up when mucking around with hi-flo filters :| Personally I run Mikuni RS flatslides, as they're good to tune, relatively cheap and offer good performance upgrade. Good luck

This was to be my next question on the other thread, but I will ask here as this one is current.
Where do you get the larger 125 mains from?

Just ring round your local bike shops and see who has Mikuni lets in. You want the round head ones.

In continuing with the carb theme, on the bank of carbs, I have two fuel inlet stubs that connect to the fuel tap, one for the left bank of carbs, the other for the right bank, then I also have two vacuum stubs, one on each bank again, (A) & (B) now (A) connects to the vacuum stub on the fuel tap, but where does (B) go?

Just blank the one furthest from the fuel tap :!: Its just easier for Mikuni to produce 'em like that.
