Oh dear.... I'll just tart her up I thought. Ooo... what's behind here? Oh I'll just take that bit off too.. gosh that could do with sorting... and before your know it... the bike's in a thousand bits :(

Ho Hum :shock:

Sorry chaps but I guess there'll be a few of these questions coming up as my '78 Z1R gets fettled (I'll post separate threads so future searches are easier for folk) but to start off with;

What was the standard finish on the ally fork sliders? AFAICS they appear to be linished and laquered - is that right?

And the rear brake calliper? Satin or gloss? mine's gloss but has obviously been repainted at some point.

TIA

Ta. I take it that's linished and laquered not polished and laquered?

AFAICS (I'm peering through the remains of a few square centimeters of faded yellow crusty laquer between the mudguard mounting bosses) mine were linished but just wanted to make sure before getting it wrong.

Well I went for just the linished look; a bit of time last night with lots-of-nasty-solvents and some fine and super fine fibral wheels and one fork leg has gone from skanky to not bad :)

Before and after:
