Powdercoating a master cylinder question.

I need to get my master cylinder refinished, ideally black powdercoat. No problem normally, but this is the m/c with the little round window for keeping an eye on the fluid level. The guys that powdercoated the rest of my stuff, thought it might be a problem when heated up (200 degrees) in the oven they use.
Anyone out there had their m/c of this type powdercoated? Can you get hold of the little window seperate, like you can with the engine oil windows that go in the clutch covers, if it goes tits up?
I guess I could respray it and try to match the finish if a problem. Cheers, Jim

I have anodised a few of these with good results, doing 3 at the moment for club members, only problem is steel wont survive in an anodising tank, and i believe im right in saying that the sight level glass has a steel reinforcing ring round it?

You are indeed correct Mikey, it looks like a stainless ring as its shiny and has no corrosion. Jim

I got my master cylinder powder coated, it has a small plastic window and everything was fine.

That's good to know Rob. After sleeping on it, I think I will risk it. If it does get damaged or disturbed, I will source another used m/c thats knacked and cut the window free and see if I can replace it. I will post the result when done. Thanks, Jim.

Came in from the shed as its freezing and started Googling re master cylinders and powder coating with glass windows and

Computers are amazing, mind you I've not contacted them yet.
Still prefer to try taking one out of an expired genuine m/c.
