Hi All,Anyone got any knowledge in depth why the Boyer Micro digital fitted to my Z1000j gives out double the RPM reading?.Boyer will modify the clock at a cost but i would like to know if it is possible to carry out the mod myself?
Any input gratefully accepted on this Cheers Paul J...

Had a look at the installation diagram and the problem is that the two coils are in series and both fire every time a pickup is detected, hence doubling the rpm as the old readings would only come from one coil as they fired seperatly.
I do not know if there is an easy way to do any mods in the tacho its self, but outside you would have to do some simple electronics to half the number of signals going to the tacho.
Just had a thought, Is it a voltage system, if so then it could be done with a couple of resistors.
Is there a wiring diagram of the tacho anywhere because it may be a simple change ?
Hope this is of some help.
Correct me if im wrong guys!

Did you get any further with this item or are you going to get the tacho recalibrated?
Have had a look around and it shuld be a fairly straight forward modification to put a little curcuit in place to halve the number of pulses going to the tacho. The parts should only be a couple of pounds from Maplin and it would use a 4017 as a devide by N counter.
The testing to prove the curcuit would be the only issue as i do not have access to the tacho!
Let me know if you would like any more info.
