Z1B front disc bolts

#1 PostAuthor: martinz1b » Fri Dec 25, 2009 7:21 pm

Can anyone advise me of the correct thread pitch for the 8MM X 28MM disc bolts for the Z1B. I am sure it should be 1.25 but would like to be sure before I buy some stainless bolts. These are for the six bolt discs.

Thanks in advance
Mart

The original part is still available from Kawasaki, 92001-104 and costs 347yen each. So genuine is what, $3.80 USD each?
It makes the stainless sets that Jeff at Z1 enterprises sells for $18.50 look very good value unless you're a slave to originality.
I mean, even if you had stainless hex stock on hand and a lathe...why would you even bother making them if they can be bought so cheaply?

I believe Inox Fasteners do stainless ones.

I put 2 in the quantity box and it came to 37 dollars. I am sure it means 2 x 6 bolts. You would have been buying 72 bolts for $220.

If you aren't in a rush I will let you know what I get when they arrive.

As mentioned above it's worth trying Inox Jerry used to keep them in stock as club spares but they came from Inox anyway so eventually he stopped keeping them just told people to go direct. It still says in the magazine to contact them for Stainless Disk Bolts, they should have them in stock at a reasonable price.

I have used Inox before. Very good quality gear, but in this case it was cheaper to get them from Z1Enterprises, I also wanted some other bits so the additional postage is negligible.

Hi Guyz, I'm shocked and stunned at the price you guyz are saying these items cost.

I bought a load of metric "fine" from the Guy Middleton (I think he's in Bateley Yorkshire) many years ago. It was more expensive than normal pitch but no where as big as the prices you've quoted.

I know you are all going to slag me to death here, but I personally would consider drilling the hub and rethreading with a 1.25mm helicoil. Much stronger than the original alloy threads.

Does it really need to be a 1.0mm pitch for maintaining its tension ????
