HARRY'S Z1000H- FOOTPEG HELP.

I'm on the home run now with my Z1000 H.
I want to restore as much as possible of the bike but....
The footpeg rubbers ,both front and rear, are in very good condition however they seem to be a press fit onto the pegs themselves.
Has anyone managed to get the rubbers off without damaging them or giving yourself a hernia. I want to zinc plate the footrest bars.
The plater I used to use told me that he wouldn't plate them with the rubbers on.I would rather use the ones on the bike but at the moment I'm stuck.
I have tried looking for nos replacements around the Ebay world just in caser but with no success.
I really want to overcome this one.
It would be like a newly painted tank with a rusting tank cap on otherwise.

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thanks

I have managed to get stuck twistgrips off with a combination of squirting Wd40 down inside with tube and wrappping rags soaked in boiling hot water then holding metal parts in vice and using a pair of heavy gloves and pulling and twisting, give it a go on your footpegs,Cheers Paul J..

Mikey. You're a star.
I guess then the plater I used to use couldn't be bothered with motorcycle bits.
I did feel that he had ripped me off with some of my zinc plating before.
I'll be in touch in the new year.

Thank you and Merry Christmas.
